Congressman Steve Watkins Holds Public Town Hall in all 25 Counties
Topeka, Kansas – In just 8-months Rep. Steve Watkins (KS-02) has conducted more public town halls than any other freshman GOP Member of Congress. Rep. Watkins has now held public town halls in all 25 counties in the Second Congressional District. Congressman Watkins issued the following statement:
“Coming home to listen and learn from Kansans is the most important thing about service. There is truth and integrity to these meaningful conversations that are lacking in politics today. These countless face-to-face conversations with folks in every industry and from every walk of life will allow me to more effectively represent Kansans in Washington, D.C.”
The 25 town halls required Watkins travel roughly 1,700 miles. Constituents from Troy to Columbus expressed interest in a wide variety of topics ranging from GOP leader’s selection of Rep. Watkins to be the only Freshman Republican on the USMCA Whip team, to his pushing back against the so-called ‘Squad,’ to his support of 2nd Amendment rights.
