As Kansans who are deeply passionate about quality education, our teachers, administrators, and parents know that the best education is local education. Washington should not dictate the curriculum taught from Atchison to Pittsburg and everywhere in between--I believe there simply can be no one-size-fits-all national education standard. I also believe early education programs conducted locally, like Head Start, are vital in so many eastern Kansas communities to prepare our youngest to be their brightest at the Pre-K level. As a product of Topeka's public schools and the son of a public school teacher, I understand the foundation of a prosperous community and state is education.
